Project Manager, Sellers Treybal Structural Engineers PC
Katherine Hill has over 20 years of experience in structural engineering design and project management. A native Vermonter, Katie spent the first half of her career based in New York City working for Leslie E. Robertson Associates and Buro Happold, two engineering firms of international renown. Her experience there focused on large-scale commercial projects located across the US and around the world. Notable projects included the Miho Museum and Bridge in Japan (with architect I.M. Pei), the Shanghai World Financial Center (second tallest building in the world at the time of completion), and a fabric-covered glulam practice stadium for the Chicago Bears.
Katie returned home to Vermont in 2004, eager to channel her engineering talents into smaller scale, community-based projects. She quickly established herself as a leader within the local engineering community, playing an active role in updating Vermont's building code as president of the Structural Engineer's Association of Vermont and was appointed by the governor to the professional engineering licensing board. Confronted by the region's stock of aging timber structures, she developed special expertise in the structural evaluation of historic timber buildings and bridges including in-situ grading.
Notable projects since returning to Vermont include the historic rehabilitation of the abandoned Wainshal Mill in Claremont, NH, restoration of the Varney Barn in Charlotte and the Irish Barn in Jericho, rehabilitation of the Quinlan Covered Bridge, and design of the new Green Mountain Club suspension bridge over the Winooski River.
